tash for cash

apart from growing some facial hair for movember, myself and the lovely sarah shattock played some music at 5 degrees below bar in falmouth and had a grand tash shaving ceremony, i think around 80 quid was raised for the charity and we had some good clean tash shaving fun! here's the promo posters we did for it

human

as humans i think we all under-appreciate the value of stopping and doing absolutely nothing. so i conducted a little experiment. i got 3 participants to sit, blindfolded, on a chair in the studio for half an hour in silence. all they were asked to do was to use the camera remote to take a photograph when they thought 15 minutes had passed.

i like how you can almost tell through each persons' body language what their judgment of time was going to be like. hopefully this will be an ongoing project, so let me know if you would like to be seated.

ideas + energy = change

swear words are bad words

a joint project with lee and lloyd, we looked at how swear words only had power in context. so we took famous quotes without swearing in and added our own profanities and vice versa.

i then got to put them up at a little show we did at the eden project -

optics journal

this was one of the elements for a journal titled 'optics' i developed for my last project of my first year. the journal investigated ways of manipulating light to convey meaning and messages.

questionnaire

we were given a questionnaire from an anonymous someone on the course. my anonymous someone hated waking up, so as a response i smashed an alarm clock. they also liked tactile type so an alphabet was made out of the pieces.

ampersand

i was given the ampersand as my character for this project. its original reason for creation and use was to save traditional typesetters time and space when laying out their type. i set about putting this concept into a tactile environment to physically show how much space it did actually save.
